BUSINESS TOURISM GENERATED MORE THAN 200,000 JOBS

The data comes from the 2018 Economic Yearbook prepared by the Economic
Observatory of Tourism Meeting of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the
UBA.

Secretary of Tourism of Argentina, Gustavo Santos, participated -together
with the directors of the AOCA and the leaders of all the country-
presentation of the Yearbook 2018 of the Economic Observatory Meeting
Tourism sector, which accounts for the employment generated by this
activity exceeded 207,000 jobs over the past year.

Yearbook recorded that 6,382 meetings (congresses, conventions, fairs,
exhibitions and international sporting events) were conducted in 2018 in
316 destinations across the country, with an annual increase of 17 percent
and an economic impact of 24 billion pesos.
"This growth is based mainly on three key factors: the reintegration of
Argentina in the world, the development of connectivity area, terrestrial
and digital in our country and the change in the international promotion
strategy meeting tourism, which first involved the public and private
sectors working together, "Santos said.

He further stressed that these results are part of the decision to "give
continuity to a state policy that involves the public, private and academic
sectors and allows you to add professional and avoid improvisation".
In the latest ranking of the ICCA (International Congress and Convention
Association), released last month, and there was a meeting tourism growth
of 17 percent in Argentina during 2018, while the world average was 3
percent.
Last year, 232 international events, Argentina surpassed its record and
spent only two destinations for the area in 2007 to 30 in 2018 and the
Autonomous City of Buenos Aires is positioned as the leading destination in
the continent for the tenth consecutive year.

In the presentation, the president of the AOCA, Fernando Gorbarán,
said: "We have the road layout, infrastructure, state policy, the agreement
between federal, provincial and private sectors and academia to continue to
work together in developing a tourism product strategy. "
The Yearbook is prepared for nine years by the Ministry of Tourism of the
Nation, the National Institute of Tourism (INPROTUR), the AOCA (Argentina
Association of Organizers and Suppliers Exhibition, Conferences, Events and
Convention Bureau) and the Faculty in Economics from the University of
Buenos Aires.
Gorbarán with Santos and also led the presentation, the academic secretary
of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the UBA, Pablo Rota, and the
president of the Argentina Chamber of Tourism (CAT), Aldo Elias.
