ARGENTINA IMPROVED IN THE RANKING OF NATIONS WITH THE MOST FAVORABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR FINANCIAL INCLUSION

The Argentina is ranked seventh in the list of 55 countries most conducive
to financial inclusion, published by The Economist Intelligence Unit, the
independent business unit of The Economist Group. In this regard, the
country climbed two places above the ranking last year and 33 in relation
to 2015.
The "Global Microscope 2019: the enabling environment for financial
inclusion" report released Monday, analyzes the practices adopted by
governments and regulators around the world to promote financial inclusion,
putting the focus on the regulatory environment and the impact of public
policy.
Thus, in the edition 2019 of the "Global Microscope" highlights the
regulations implemented by the Central Bank in November 2018 that enabled
the complementary agencies, usually called correspondent banking to
facilitate the access of people to the banking system. The report also
qualifies as a landmark to the publication of the draft referred to a
national strategy for financial inclusion in April 2019, the final version
was ratified in August this year by Resolution 17/2019 of the Ministry of
Finance.
In this sense, The Economist Intelligence Unit concluded that Argentina
made significant progress in financial inclusion over the past four years.
According to the report, Argentina stood out above the average of the
countries evaluated in the categories "Government and political
support"; "Stability and integrity"; "Products and access
points"; "Consumer protection"; and "infrastructure".
The "Global Microscope 2019" highlights the overall progress in financial
inclusion, and identifies Latin America as the region with the regulatory
framework and the most favorable for its development policies. The report
also recognizes the increasing adoption of national strategies for
financial inclusion, the overall improvement of regulatory frameworks for
digital financial services, and the evolution of data protection laws and
cybersecurity response to the challenges of the digital age.
