ARGENTINA PARTICIPATED IN THE XLV MEETING OF HEALTH MINISTERS OF MERCOSUR
During the meeting, the secretary Rubinstein emphasized the priorities of
his administration: expansion of universal health coverage, access to
medicines policy, coverage and access to new technologies, and prevention
of childhood overweight and obesity.

As part of the XLV Mercosur meeting held in San Pablo, health ministers of
Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay signed a series of declarations and
agreements, among which are the creation of a network of milk banks human,
the need to promote sexual and reproductive health in the context of the
regional bloc, and the importance of developing surveillance, health
promotion and care for the prevention of noncommunicable diseases.
The meeting was opened by the Minister of Health of Brazil, Luis Henrique
Mandetta and was attended by Secretary of Government Health of Argentina,
Adolfo Rubinstein, and the Ministers of Health of Paraguay, Julio Daniel
Mazzoleni Insfrán, and Uruguay, Dr. Jorge Basso.
Rubinstein Secretary highlighted the achievements during his tenure as head
of the national health portfolio, among which he mentioned the expansion of
Universal Health Coverage, drug policy, coverage and access to new
technologies and the prevention of overweight and obesity childish.
The meeting, held under the temporary presidency of the greatest Brazilian
health authorities, the ministers discussed the regional situation of
priority diseases and also reviewed the actions taken to control
vector-borne diseases at border points as well as continuity of the pro
tempore presidency Argentina on the importance of achieving joint actions
in negotiating drug prices high price.
"The ministers believe it is important that the policy of joint price
negotiations (drug) strengthen the Mercosur, since it has not reached a
price proposal for the PPTB (President Pro Tempore Brazil)" they said in
the declaration.
In that sense, they added that "should strengthen a committee or permanent
Working Group that can maintain the continuity of the agenda along
presidencies, which addresses the long term, the necessary particulars to
get a price negotiation more effective ".
With a statement of viral hepatitis in order to strengthen national
strategies for disposal and the other on silicosis in the field of health
worker-infection caused by inhalation of silica-molecules completed the
agenda of the XLV Meeting of Ministers Mercosur.
