[English-Español] CERO RATING DE DATOS MÓVILES PARA PLATAFORMAS EDUCATIVAS

Zero rating of mobile data for educational platforms
All those who connect to "continue to educate" platform - an initiative launched by the Ministry of Education to provide school support for students and pupils - they will discount the use of mobile data to make ends meet.
Monday March 16, 2020
As part of the measures adopted by the national government for health emergencies derived from the coronavirus, the Ministry of Innovation and the National Authority for Communications (ENACOM) agreed with national mobile operators (Claro, Movistar Telefonica and Telecom Personal) the bonus data service for the use of the platform "continue to educate".
"The state says this to help all students and this initiative shows that collaboration between public and private is possible when one considers the general welfare," said Malcolm Micaela Sanchez, Secretary of Public Innovation of the Nation.
Thus, all those who connect to the initiative launched Monday by the Ministry of National Education to provide school support for students and pupils will discount them using mobile data to make ends meet.
The objective of this measure is to assure students and teachers at the elementary and secondary level connectivity to access "continue to educate" and carry out the tasks assigned.
What it is the "zero rating"
It is a practice that can deploy mobile operators to not charge customers a certain voumen data used by specific applications or platforms. This means that the data packet is not seen affected by the use of, in this case the "continue to educate" platform, the Ministry of Education.
