La misma fue presidida por el Presidente de la Nación, doctor Alberto Fernández; y contó con la presencia del Jefe e integrantes del Gabinete de Ministros; los embajadores de Chile y Perú; el Jefe del Estado Mayor Conjunto, General de Brigada Juan Martín Paleo; los Jefes del Estado Mayor General del Ejército, General de Brigada Agustín Cejas; de la Armada, Contraalmirante Julio Horacio Guardia; y de la Fuerza Aérea, Brigadier Xavier Julián Isaac; junto a oficiales y suboficiales de las Fuerzas Armadas; y el presidente del Instituto Nacional Sanmartiniano. Luego de la entonación del Himno Nacional Argentino, el Presidente de la Nación colocó una ofrenda floral al pie del busto que recuerda al Padre de la Patria y se procedió a un minuto de silencio. A continuación, el Presidente Alberto Fernández pronunció palabras alusivas en las que destacó: "San Martín fue un hombre inigualable. Debe ser un modelo para todos nosotros y hacernos reflexionar como sociedad". El Primer Mandatario expresó que el Libertador solo estuvo 12 años en el continente americano. A su arribo, en 1812, constituyó su Regimiento de Granaderos a Caballo y libró la histórica Batalla de San Lorenzo. "Vivía preocupado por la libertad latinoamericana y la independencia argentina". Luego de repasar el resto de las acciones que signaron la vida del Libertador, quien falleció a los 72 años, el 17 de agosto de 1850, en su casa de Boulogne-sur Mer (Francia), finalizó la ceremonia.
