Limpieza Bandera Argentina de Honor - Fragata Sarmiento Limpieza Bandera Argentina de Honor - Fragata Sarmiento El pasado 30 de agosto se conmemoró el 123 aniversario de la botadura de la Fragata Sarmiento -primer buque escuela- y es importante resaltar que desde hace más de 10 años diversos bienes culturales que se encuentran en ésta emblemática embarcación han sido conservadores y restaurados por la Coordinación de Patrimonio Cultural del Ministerio. lunes 07 de septiembre de 2020 Fragata A. R. A Presidente Sarmiento El 4 de septiembre del 2013, personal de la Coordinación realizo una visita a la fragata Sarmiento para realizar una limpieza mecánica de la bandera y la vitrina en que se halla exhibida. Se trata de una Bandera nacional de Honor, donada por la comisión central Pro-Patria de damas santafecinas y costeada por suscripción pública. Entregada al regreso del primer viaje de instrucción en 1900. Cofre portabandera y Bandera de Guerra El cofre es obra del escultor Américo Bonetti, ganado por concurso. En la cara interna de la tapa del mismo se halla una placa de plata grabada con los nombres de las integrantes de la comisión que donó la bandera. Información técnica Los materiales por la cual está compuesta son: Gro de seda azul y marfil (franjas de la bandera); Cuerda trenzada con terminación en agarre de madera; Hilos metálicos (sol). ; afetán de algodón (soporte del bordado). Sus medidas: totales aprox (en cm): 590 x 360 ; Medidas del sol (en cm. ): 83 x 83; Alto de las franjas azules (en cm): 120; Alto de la franja marfil (en cm): 118 Bandera de Guerra emplazada en la Fragata ARA Presidente Sarmiento La pieza presentaba un ordenamiento asimétrico ya que el sol (visto por la cara expuesta) se encuentra desplazado hacia la izquierda del centro (en aproximadamente 50 cm). Estado de conservación La bandera se encontraba plegada sobre si misma con una de las caras del sol a la vista, lo que provocaba deformaciones y arrugas en toda la pieza. Había en la superficie de la bandera restos de suciedad, faltantes de hilos metálicos en el bordado y roturas en el soporte textil. En el interior de los pliegues se percibe la presencia de humedad y en el borde de terminación del lateral derecho se encontraron focos de ataque biológico activo en forma de una pátina blanca sobre las franjas azules y pequeños puntos de color ocre sobre la franja marfil. Arrugas y deformaciones de la Bandera Todo el textil presenta manchas oscuras distribuidas de manera irregular y la unión entre dos de las franjas se encuentra parcialmente descosida en la unión de la entre la franja celeste y la franja marfil del ángulo superior izquierdo. El perímetro que rodea el bordado del sol en ambas caras presenta roturas y abrasión producto de las tensiones provocadas por el mismo bordado. Algunas de estas roturas presentan intervenciones anteriores (remiendos). El sol que no está a la vista tiene sobre los rayos del ángulo inferior derecho gran cantidad de hilos metálicos sueltos y enmarañados. Manchas en el textil En el interior del cofre se encontró gran cantidad de suciedad, además de restos de antigua sílica gel que ha perdido su función. Procedimiento realizado Se removió la bandera del cofre y al corroborar que la manipulación de la pieza era posible sin generar deterioros, se procedió a extenderla. La limpieza se realizó mediante aspiración con control de succión y, en las zonas mas deterioradas, con la protección de una gasa de malla abierta para evitar la pérdida de fragmentos. Se removió gran cantidad de suciedad y en los focos de actividad biológica se realizó un tratamiento mecánico más intensivo procurando mantener la zona ventilada durante todo el tiempo que duró la intervención. Detalle de limpieza mecánica Al extender la pieza se pudo verificar la existencia de la cara no expuesta de la bandera, de igual confección a la cara expuesta. Detalle de limpieza mecánica Se tomaron muestras para analizar en el laboratorio:-textiles (seda marfil)-Suciedad-Hilos metálicos Cofre portabandera y Bandera de Guerra Conservadas y Recuperadas en exhibición en la Fragata ARA Presidente Sarmiento Se plegó la bandera del tamaño del cofre y se realizó un interfoliado de papel de seda como medida preventiva de migraciones de color y suciedad. Se volvió a colocar la bandera en el cofre ya limpio.
