EXPERTS ANALYZED THE INTERNATIONAL HEALTH AGENDA IN FRANCE
Argentina's delegation, led by the Senasa, participated in the 87th Annual
Assembly of Delegates of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE),
from 26 to 31 May.

Buenos Aires - Argentina A delegation headed by the National Director of
Animal Health of the National Health Service and Food Quality (Senasa),
Matthias Nardello, participated in the 87th Annual General Session of the
Assembly of Delegates of the World Health Organization Animal (OIE) held in
Paris, France, from 26 to 31 May.
The delegation represented our country was also integrated by the Senasa
authorities, members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the
private sector. They participated in the meeting about a thousand people,
including delegates from member countries, many scientists and observers
from international, intergovernmental, regional and national organizations.
The papers presented at the General Session took place during the last week
and were validated through the adoption of resolutions debated in plenary
by the Assembly of Delegates of the OIE Member Countries.
In addition to the adoption of international standards and standards of the
OIE that are incorporated into their codes and manuals, they were analyzed
and discussed the recommendations emanating from the global conferences
regarding antimicrobial resistance and healthcare in species of animals
water.
Among developed topics, they discussed the challenge of veterinary services
and their ability to adapt to future scenarios such as climate change and
natural disasters.
Also, considerations and recommendations to the current situation in the
world on African swine fever and the recognition of the official status
provided by the OIE for animal diseases such as foot and mouth disease,
classical swine fever and peste des petits ruminants were analyzed.
In this context, the Argentina delegation also held important meetings with
the heads of national veterinary services of countries with which it
maintains a health and trade agenda, allowing monitoring of outstanding
issues in the process of opening markets and international cooperation.
He also had a meeting with the Director General of the OIE, Monique Eloit,
and the representative of the Organization for the Americas, Luis Barcos,
under which views on topics of interest of Argentina relative were
exchanged on the international agenda animal health worldwide.
The opening session of the Assembly, which took place at the Maison de la
Chimie, international conference center in Paris, France, was presided over
by its president, Mark Schipp, delegate of Australia, along with Eloit.
They are participating delegates representing the 182 OIE member countries,
observers from international and regional organizations.
