Wednesday May 22, 2019 While 580,109 cases of work-related accidents were reported in 2017, in 2018 the figure was 545,907. This was revealed by the "Interim Report of Labor Accident" of the Superintendency of Occupational Risks (SRT) covering the period January-December 2018 compared to the same court in the previous year. The dossier also reveals that commuting accidents decreased almost 10% (of 139,470 reported cases in 2017 to 126,191 in 2018), and reported cases of fatalities experienced a drop of 9.6% (while in 2017 there were 740 cases in 2018 the figure fell to 669). By measuring the accident rate by economic sector, the report recorded declines: Trade (-7.9%) Manufacturing (-7.6%) and Social Services (-6.5%).
