IT IS FORBIDDEN TO PRODUCE ANIMAL FEED ANTIBIOTICS
Since last January 2 governs the Senasa Resolution 1119 / 18. Friday 03 May
2019. Buenos Aires - The National Health Service and Food Quality (Senasa)
reminds businesses that produce and / or import animal feed is Resolution
current 1119-1118 which prohibited from 2 Jan. producing products that
include antibiotics in composition. The rule states that companies must
submit to the General Coordination of Approval for Food Senasa an affidavit
signed by its technical director, showing the list of products registered
with antibiotics, with its trade name, certificate number, number of
record, stock produced until January 2, 2019 and the estimated time
depletion of stock. Also in the affidavit must state whether the company
will modify the formulation of the record of each product declared, after
which must initiate the appropriate procedure for submitting the essay and
project sign to date of each product which is disposed of without charge to
the company. Discontinue if one or more products, the affidavit must
exhaustively express the final application for deregistration, thereby
complying with current regulations. Since 2015, the Senasa carried out the
National Program for Monitoring Antimicrobial Resistance, in an integrated
manner with the Ministry of Health of the Nation, to minimize the
generation of resistant bacteria in the intensive production of cattle,
pigs and poultry that can be transmitted through food and impact on the
health of consumers. Resolution 1119/18 was approved according to
international recommendations to contain antimicrobial resistance and the
need to eliminate the use of veterinary products with antibiotics in animal
feed to be one way of their generation. Finally, it is important that
companies, under public control system defined in Law 27,233, are a key
player in the marketing of safe food and the protection of public health,
which is reflected on this occasion compliance with the provisions of this
standard.
