MORE FUNDS FOR RESEARCH

The area of ​​science and technology advances in efforts to ensure the
correct operation of research centers and institutes.

Government Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation's Office
reports the following progress in the area operational and budgetary terms.
• We are increasing the budget by 1000 million pesos to ensure the normal
functioning of all research institutes, and fund projects approved and
awarded research both through the National Agency for Promotion of Science
and Technology, and through the CONICET and the Federal Council of Science
and Technology (COFECYT). The increase will be made effective disbursements
as of June, and will continue throughout the year. • On Wednesday May 22
the decree of appointment of doctors Mario Pecheny and Alberto Kornblihtt
as directors of CONICET be signed. • On 3 June the competition to the
Career Research Scientist 2019 will open to fill 450 new positions. • a
budget increase of 300 million for the purchase of equipment was carried
out based on the last call for convening the Enhancement Program
facilities. • it is in the process of signing the decree amending the
arrangements for imports of inputs for Scientific and Technological
research (ROECYT), so they can be imported more cheaply, simple and fast
supplies and equipment necessary for the conduct of investigations.
Around these measures, the Minister of Education, Culture, Science and
Technology of the Nation, Alejandro Finocchiaro, considered: "We understand
the demands of the scientific community, and so we try to generate measures
that impact positively on this vital sector to achieve a prosperous and
developed country. That shows is that, despite being in a period of
difficulties during the current year, the budget increase for the National
System of Science and Technology has reached 2,200 million pesos. In
addition, at present, the Government Secretary of Science, Technology and
Productive Innovation, Lino Barañao, is working at IDB headquarters to
expand international funding to invest in the space program. "
For his part, Secretary of Planning and Policies in Science, Technology and
Innovation, Jorge Aguado, said: "We are particularly pleased to present
these results we expect to give tranquility to the scientific community.
Science, technology and innovation are a necessary condition for the
development and growth of the country and are a priority policy of this
government. Therefore, and with the intention of not only solve the current
problems but also achieve real impact of the new knowledge society and in
the productive system of the country it is that we work every day from the
Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and technology, together with other
national ministries ".
