THE GOVERNMENT COOPERATES WITH FLOODS OPERATIVES RETURN TO HOMES IN CHACO
The Government intervenes in operational return to the homes of residents
who had been evacuated because of flooding in Chaco, while continuing
assistance to those affected by floods recorded in the provinces of
Corrientes, Santa Fe and Formosa. Army personnel, Prefecture and
Gendarmerie is responsible for collaborating in the distribution of
medicines and cleaning supplies for residents who are returning to their
homes as waters recede in several chaqueñas locations. Similarly, the
forces continue to support provincial Civil Defense Volunteer Fire and
Police, Public Health, in helping those who are still isolated by the
floods. The operations were carried out under the aegis of the National
System for Integrated Risk Management and Civil Protection (SINAGIR)
responsible for coordinating and articulating the resources of national
agencies to provide, together with the provinces and municipalities,
assistance urban and rural populations who are in emergency situations. The
Army works with the use of two helicopters, five trucks, a van with double
cab, a special boat, while Gendarmerie and Naval Prefecture do with UNIMOG
vehicles. In that province remain evacuated residents of General Pinedo,
Santa Sylvina, Coronel Du Graty, Samuhu, Tacuruzal, Forest Rio de Oro, La
Eduvigis, Las Palmas, Frías Command, Captain Solari, Puerto Bermejo,
General Vedia and Colonia Elisa. National Roads Authority reported that the
National Route 89 has restricted traffic flow; the Provincial Route 4 - on
the stretch connecting Quitilipi and Villa Berthet - is affected by street
patching, and the Provincial Route 9, which connects New Pompei with
Sauzalito, and is enabled for circulation. In Corrientes, the latest report
of SINAGIR reported that there are nearly 80 people had to leave their
homes in Itati, Paraje Abra, San Luis del Palmar and Spot Palmira. In Santa
Fe, the Army assists in the towns of the north of the province by
delivering supplies and materials, together with Civil Defense and
municipal offices. They work in the departments of July 9 and Vera,
Volunteer Firefighters and police in the province, in attendance of 20
people who are still evacuated in Villa Minetti. In Formosa, continued
assistance Coastguard personnel, in collaboration with Civil Defense and
local authorities, more than 4,000 people evacuated in the town of Puerto
Pilcomayo, following the flooding of the Pilcomayo River. National
officials are in constant contact with the authorities of Santiago del
Estero to any request for assistance arising out of the province, following
the situation of evacuees in the Juríes department General Taboada, due to
heavy rainfall.
