TRAINING HUNTERS AND GATHERERS EUROPEAN HARE IN LA PAMPA

The course dealt with health and safety, and conservation of wildlife,
based on current regulations of the Senasa and the European Community, the
main destination of this product.

SANTA ROSA (La Pampa) - In order to strengthen the safety of food products
reach the consumer, hunters and gatherers European hare received state care
training in health and safety of the product to perform its activity. Day

The course - organized by the National Health Service and Food Quality
(Senasa) by the Academic Secretary of the Faculty of Veterinary Science at
the University of La Pampa (UNLPam) and the Department of Natural Resources
of the Ministry of Production of the Province - it was developed based on
existing legislation at national and European level on the hygienic
requirements - health required for commercial hunting European hare and its
collection until reaching refrigerator.
The meeting, coordinated by the Department of Food Science and Food
Technology, also put emphasis on the importance of wildlife conservation.

The speakers also recalled that while Natural Resources and Senasa perform
epidemiological controls in wild animals, the hunter must be trained to

Senasa agents also described the characteristics of the hare and behavior,
proper handling and transport, control and proper post mortem collection
and detailed requirements for facilities enabling collectors and official
documents of control.
The meeting was part of the regulations in force EC-Regulation No. 853/2004
of the European Parliament and the Council and Circular No. 4144 of Senasa-
making it mandatory to conduct commercial whaling, to have a credential
