AGRICULTURAL MONITOR ESTIMATES: THE 2018-2019 HARVEST CONSOLIDATES ITS RECORD

With an advance of harvest close to 90%, 145 million tons of grain are
expected. Notably first time in 20 years maize production greater in amount
to the soybean.

The Secretary of State's Office of Agro Industry today released the Monitor
Agricultural Estimates of May, providing official information summary of
the main productive variables and market.
Government Secretary of Agribusiness of the Nation, Luis Miguel
Etchevehere, said that "for the first time in 20 years, corn production
will exceed in quantity to soybean under a grain harvest record 145 million
tonnes . the producer and the entire agricultural chain gamble and invest
again after the worst drought in 50 years because they trust in Argentina ".
For his part, Undersecretary of Agriculture, Luis Urriza, indicated that
for the 2019-2020 cycle, "the intention of planting wheat is 6.4 million
hectares, exceeding by 2.4% the last season" . It is recalled that 19.5
million tons were harvested in 2018-2019.

The Monitor provides monthly updates of the estimate of agricultural
production and surfaces; the survey states advance planting / harvest; and
the states of crops, among other variables. These are required by many
social, political and economic actors to plan actions, reducing uncertainty
or improve resource allocation.
