AGROINDUSTRY TOOK PART IN THE 109TH SESSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL OLIVE OIL COUNCIL (IOOC)

The Ministry of Government Agribusiness participated in the 109th session
of the International Olive Oil Council (IOOC), held from 17 to 21 June in
Morocco, chaired by the Delegation of Egypt and organized by the Delegation
of Morocco.
The representative of the National Food and Beverage of the Ministry of
Food and Bioeconomy, Sofia Tagarelli actively discussions on topics related
to chemistry and standardization internationally established rules for
olivícolas products involved; promotional activities undertaken by the
Agency, studies on technology and the environment; as well as prevention
and health action plans, the Observatory, among others.
Note that the IOC will sponsor for the first time the realization of the
national competition organized by the province of San Juan in the field
of "Argoliva 2019" in September this year. Have international support
demonstrates that the sector of olive oil and table olives are one of the
most strategic and transcendental for the regional development of our
country regional economies.

largest producer and exporter in the Americas; the 5th largest exporter of
table olives and olive oil 6; features that allow the industry to
consolidate itself as a genuine source of employment and foreign exchange.
In 2018, olivícolas products were exported more than 150 million to more
than 30 destinations. In this sense, it is strengthening its role as a
world leader in olivícola the American continent and in the Southern Cone,
outside the Mediterranean basin.
The session was attended by representatives of member countries: Algeria,
Argentina, Egypt, the European Union, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Palestine,
Tunisia, Turkey and Uruguay. Montenegro was represented by the European
Union. The United States and Georgia also attended as observers, the last
of which submitted its official application for membership in the Council
meeting. Additionally participated in the Arab observer status Federation
Food Industries; the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United
Nations; the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic
Studies; and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
