ARGENTINA NEGOTIATES IDB FINANCING TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF SERVICE IN PROVINCIAL AND MUNICIPAL ROAD NETWORKS IN THE COUNTRY.

The Undersecretary of International Financial Relations, Ministry of
Finance, together with officials from the Federal Trust Fund for Regional
Infrastructure (FFFIR) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB),
defined under the Federal Program Regional Transport Infrastructure,
conditions transfer of resources from external financing.
The total amount of the program is USD 300 million, which will be financed
entirely by the IDB, in order to contribute to improving the
competitiveness of the provinces and regional development. From the
strengthening of state policy, which encourages the promotion of economic
and social development for the country's integration, the FFFIR was
consolidated as a tool for flexible, reliable and affordable financing.
This operation is aligned with the objectives of government, specifically
the National Road Plan, which aims to build 2,800 additional kilometers of
highways, 4,000 kilometers of safe roads and repaving 13000 additional
kilometers.
In this sense, the implementation of rehabilitation and structural
reinforcement of pavements in the Provincial Roads (RP) Black River, Entre
Ríos and Catamarca is expected. In addition, funding will be allocated to
institutional strengthening, through the design and implementation of
training by the FFFIR, among other administrative expenses.
Road networks taken as a sign of this project are: RP No. 6 and No. 8
Section Paso Córdoba - La Esperanza, RP No. 23 between the towns of Villa
Elisa and Pronunciamiento, Road Beltway of the City of Gualeguaychú, and RP
No. 1 Empalme section RN No. 18 - RP No. 48. Thus, the works will boost the
productive development of agricultural areas from improved walkability and
connectivity to the centers of greater economic and commercial importance.
The overall beneficiaries of the program were estimated based on the
population of the localities in the area of influence of sample projects
and amounted to 184,118 people, with a record of 15,311 users per day on
the tracks once improved.

government and the provinces to move towards a more sustainable and federal
