NEW MEETING OF CITIZEN SCIENCE
It took place in the Science Technology Collaborative Clinic Citizen
Science workshop of Palermo Polo.

As part of the series of workshops and lectures on Science and Citizen
Abierta, the Collaborative Clinical workshop citizen science projects at
the Cultural Center of Science we were conducted. The meeting was organized
by the Government Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation under
its "Program Open Data in Science and Technology" Research Center for
Transformation (CENIT) and Cientópolis, the platform that brings together
projects open science.
It is called citizen science to open and active non-academic public
involvement processes of scientific research. Working together with
professional scientists, experts and scientific institutions, citizens
support the collection, analysis or description of research data and thus
make a valuable contribution to science.
The aim of this course is to introduce researchers, students and policy
makers and managers in science and technology in the importance of using
development tools and open and citizen science. In addition, open through
workshops a space for dialogue about the challenges, opportunities and
specific problems it represents.
This year, the theme was good practice in citizen science, obstacles that
often occur and common disputes. During the day four citizen science
projects that are currently operating in our country and have varying
degrees of maturity were presented, these were: Geovin, application that
allows identification of vinchucas from shipping and cure of photos and
other descriptive data ; Appear, application seeking diagnose the state of
aquatic ecosystems and provides tools play its users to learn how to care
for them; Notes and Waste, which arises generate information about the
amount and type of waste generated in the City of Buenos Aires; Nodes,
collaborative content platform on the performing arts. After the
presentations of the projects, four workshops were held and discussed and
shared practices and experiences about the types of project participants,
the management of data received and linking with authorities and other
stakeholders. At the end of the conclusions for each of the projects they
were exposed and reflected collaboratively on cross them learning.
The event was coordinated by the coordinator Cientópolis and researcher at
the Laboratory for Research and Training in Advanced Computing (LIFIA) of
the National University of La Plata, Diego Torres, who stressed the
importance of sharing projects and establish collaborative networks among
participants and the National director of Programs and projects of the
Secretariat, Guillermina D'Onofrio, who observed that "citizen science
projects interpellate the relationship between professionals and scientists
scientists and citizens can contribute to a better understanding of
scientific work among the public in general and new uses of open data
research co-produced in them "and also stressed the importance of
exchanging experiences in this area.
The next meeting will take place cycle for the first time outside the
Federal Capital in Córdoba between 4 and 5 July.
