PROVINCIAL REFERENTS GATHERED AT THE NATIONAL MEETING OF ADOLESCENTS

The National Program of Comprehensive Adolescent Health presented the 2019-
2023 before provincial technical teams responsible and Strategic Plan. He
also participated in the 10th Argentine Congress of Comprehensive
Adolescent Health.

Organized by the Integral Health National Program on Adolescence (PNSIA)
and the presence of responsible and technical equipment programs across the
country, the National Meeting of Referentes Provincial Adolescents who
aimed to discuss strategies to strengthen took place right to health of
adolescents.
Opening the event, held for two days in Buenos Aires, he was led by
Undersecretary of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Daniel Espinosa,
and the coordinator of PNSIA, Juan Carlos Escobar, who urged those present
to strengthen commitment in implementing policies to improve the quality of
comprehensive adolescent care.
"The right to health of adolescents in Argentina must be guaranteed as a
priority and integral. In this context, the National Program of
Comprehensive Adolescent Health presents itself as one of the tools of the
state to guarantee access to health system, "he said Escobar.
During the meeting, members of PNSIA and provincial representatives shared
strategies deployed throughout the country to ensure access to and exercise
of the right to health in this age group.
The first day had as main focus the presentation of the National Strategic
Plan for Comprehensive Adolescent Health 2019- 2023, whose pillars are
offering comprehensive health services; the participation; growth and
development; gender, sexuality and diversity; teenage pregnancy; and
violence and injuries.
"Having a Strategic Plan is key to ensuring the sustainability of a policy
that guarantees access of this population to the health system, framed in
challenges such as Universal Health Coverage, reduced unintended pregnancy,
the fight against overweight and obesity among others; from a gender
perspective and rights, "he explained the coordinator of PNSIA.
The document presented main objective is to ensure timely access to
comprehensive health and sustained adolescents reducing morbidity and
mortality. For this look, through various strategies, promoting inclusive
service offering health and quality throughout the country and implement
comprehensive Health Advisories Secondary Schools; promote participation in
the design, implementation and monitoring of public policies; and increase
national coverage in preventing unintended pregnancies and access to safe
legal termination of pregnancy.
Also, the plan aims to reduce morbidity and mortality teenager violence and
other external causes; ensure that all program activities include
cross-cutting approaches to gender, sexual and physical diversity; and
increase the quantity and quality of strategic information for
decision-making on policies and programs.
During the second day of the meeting, the technical team of PNSIA worked
with the provincial representatives on guidelines to strengthen effective
access to the health system, as well as exchange experiences on local
situations.

10th Argentine Congress of Comprehensive Adolescent Health
On the other hand, the PNSIA participated in various activities, spaces for
discussion and debate on public policies on adolescent health in the
framework of the 10th Argentine Congress of Comprehensive Adolescent Health
organized by the Argentina Society of Pediatrics (SAP).
The event featured workshops, conferences, roundtables and discussion
forums involving health professionals, teachers, community leaders and all
those interested in the course of adolescent life.
In this context, the PNSIA held the First Meeting of Councils of Adolescent
Health, a space where delegations from different provinces shared
experiences and discussed strategies for working with the aim of
delineating the formation of a Federal Council of Adolescent Health,
raising functions, objectives and organization.
In addition, the program developed a workshop on teenage pregnancy and
another on suicide prevention, which included the participation of
adolescents provincial regions of the NEA, NOA and Patagonia.
The closure of Congress was attended by the coordinator of the National
Program of Comprehensive Adolescent Health, Juan Carlos Escobar, who spoke
on "Rights, gender and health. Intersections of public policy for
teens "and also introduced attendees the National Strategic Plan for
Comprehensive Adolescent Health 2019 2023.
"The Strategic Plan is based on the work and experience accumulated in the
12 years that carries out the program since its inception. In its
development we try to capture the complexity of variables in addressing
teens and incorporates recreating strategies related to various problems"
said Escobar, who ended his speech with the hope that the plan "is a
political tool for the sustainability of stocks and investment in the
health of adolescents in our country."
