SEA TEMPERATURE AVERAGED 15 DEGREES IN MAR DEL PLATA DURING MAY
Wednesday June 12, 2019
The Cabinet of Physical Oceanography at the National Institute of Fisheries
Research and Development reported that the water temperature at the sea
surface in Mar del Plata in May 2019, averaged 15.1 degrees.
During May sea temperature in the area it fell from 16.5 to 14.0 ° C,
staying within the normal ranges for the area, but from day 1 below the
average zonal value (16 , 2 ° C). Regarding the logs recorded in May
station, the temperature also remained within the range of interquartile
[P75 = 15.9 - P25 = 13.8] ° C, until 15 above the historical monthly
average value (15 , 1 ° C) and then lower values.
The data were obtained with a thermometer SBE38 at intervals of 5 minutes.
To validate the observations are compared with weekly measurements in the
dock of the North breakwater (X) and the climatological mean value (red
line) and average limits + -3 * standard deviation monthly (line hyphens)
calculated for the area ( Regional Oceanographic Database Bardo-INIDEP).
Comparing the main statistics this month of 2019 with those calculated from
the complete record of the EOC (2013 to present) series decreased measures
of dispersion (standard and ranges deviation) is highlighted, and increased
outliers .
Main series on the jetty Fisherman's Wharf for statistical records May.
