Under the first National Plan for Equal Opportunities and Rights a Lactary
opened in the Casa Rosada for mothers with infants can perform the removal

incorporation, which meets guidelines No. 26. 873 Law which establishes the
promotion and public awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and
best practices safe for infants and children nutrition, is part of the
commitments made by the National public Administration in promoting the
opening of milk feeders in public bodies. According to the League of
Argentina, eight out of ten women do not have a milk allocated space in
their work that allows them to extract and preserve their milk, making it
difficult to reconcile motherhood with work. The World Health Organization
(WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding extend up to six months and
additional up to two years. In 2011, WHO issued a recommendation which
suggests installing friendly spaces for breastfeeding outside the home.
Thus, to be able to live these two tasks, milk feeders are presented as a
possibility not to stop breastfeed. In this regard, the Secretary General
of the Presidency, Fernando De Andreis, stressed the importance of
incorporating Lactary since working with gender equality in the labor
framework: "This implies a key step in promoting reconciliation between
breastfeeding and work, and to accompany the women returning to work
activity and ensure their right and that of their children to continue
breastfeeding. " For his part, Minister of Social Development and Health,
Carolina Stanley, said that "the opening of this space is extremely
important for moms who work at Casa Rosada, because it allows them to
exercise their right to continue breastfeeding, but also as a symbol of our
commitment to equal opportunities and rights, is a symbol that speaks of
our development as women, the spaces we occupy and how, when there is an
active state, which promotes equality, realities change ".
