El procedimiento se inició cuando el personal perteneciente al Escuadrón 47 "Ituzaingó" inspeccionó siete camiones en los cuales se transportaban granos de soja a granel. Éstos provenían de la provincia de Santiago del Estero y tenían con destino final diferentes ciudades de Misiones. Al solicitar la documentación pertinente a uno de los conductores, los trabajadores de la GNA advirtieron anomalías debido a la imprecisión de algunos datos en los presuntos permisos; ante ello, los miembros de la fuerza federal informaron al personal de la AFIP-DGI de Posadas, Misiones, de la sospechosa situación, tras lo cual la AFIP-DGI confirmó que los números identificatorios de los documentos presentados por los transportistas registraban inconsistencias en el sistema informático. Allí lograron identificar que se trataba de documentación apócrifa.
Con intervención del Juzgado Federal de Corrientes N° 1, se procedió al decomiso, junto con la Aduana de Posadas, de 189000 kilogramos de granos de soja a granel, valuados en más de 2. 800000 pesos.
