BERGMAN SPOKE AT THE FORUM OF LATIN AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The meeting takes place in the presence of representatives of all countries
of the region, civil society, international organizations, private sector
and academia. It published on Thursday 25 April 2019. In order to review
progress and challenges in the implementation of Agenda 2030 in the region,
it is held in Santiago, Chile, the third meeting of the Forum of Latin
American and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development, the Government
Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development, Sergio Bergman
participates. In this context, Bergman, also president pro tempore of the
Forum of Ministers of Environment of Latin America and the Caribbean,
said: "We need interdisciplinary teams where affirm, on the platform of
Agenda 2030, that the environment is a human right". Regarding the national
authority of Escazú Agreement, the Secretary Bergman explained: "Argentina
is in the process of ratification of this agreement we come today to
strengthen and enrich. Concurrent ministries are doing their timely
feedback, so that national MPs to ratify ". Specifically, the Argentine
official spoke at the interregional dialogue between Latin America and the
Caribbean and Europe on the implementation of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable
Development, which was moderated by Raul Garcia-Buchaca, Deputy Executive
Secretary for Administration and Program Analysis ECLAC. The Secretary of
Environment Government shared the panel with Paul Chet Greene, the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda; Gabriel Ferrero, the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain; Paul Garaycochea
of ​​the German Embassy in Peru; Rita Hernandez, the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and Worship of Costa Rica; Andres Delich, of the Organization of
Iberoamerican States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and Erlend
Skutlaberg, the Norwegian Embassy in Chile. High-level event, organized by
the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean
(ECLAC) and the Government of Cuba in its capacity as president of the
regional-organism, attended by delegates from the 33 countries of the
region. It started yesterday and continues until Friday.
