CORDOBA SMALL PRODUCERS MAY HAVE WATER ALL YEAR ROUND
20 families of farmers in different sites located in the Cordovan
departments Pocho and San Alberto will have improved access to water and
store, from a series of works being carried out by the Ministry of Health
and Social Development and the Ministry of Agro Industry . The construction
work consists of 20 tanks 16. 000 liters capacity each and installation of
centrifugal pumps and solar water extraction. The aim is to facilitate the
capture and storage of water from different sources in little communities
of this basic resource at certain times of the year. In the region, the
winter-spring period suffers from lack of water availability, resulting in
low or dry wells, streams and other natural sources that are used for
domestic and productive purposes. The works are accompanied by
participatory workshops construction of cisterns in different communities
for learning tasks and maintenance by beneficiaries of the tanks of plates
for family use, and training on efficient use of water and agro-ecological
horticulture. Execution of tasks is coordinated by technicians Córdoba
coordination of the Ministry of Family Agriculture, Coordination and
Territorial Development, and ProHuerta program (MSyDS-INTA), who conducted
the formulation, infrastructure management, construction and technical
support .
