IN A YEAR, THEY FELL 6% INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENTS IN THE COUNTRY

While 580,109 cases of work-related accidents were reported in 2017, in
2018 the figure was 545,907. This was revealed by the "Interim Report of
Labor Accident" of the Superintendency of Occupational Risks (SRT) covering
the period January-December 2018 compared to the same court in the previous
year.
The dossier also reveals that commuting accidents decreased almost 10% (of
139,470 reported cases in 2017 to 126,191 in 2018), and reported cases of
fatalities experienced a drop of 9.6% (while in 2017 there were 740 cases
in 2018 the figure fell to 669).
By measuring the accident rate by economic sector, the report recorded
declines: Trade (-7.9%) Manufacturing (-7.6%) and Social Services (-6.5%).
They are followed by financial services (-5.9%), Transport (-5.2%),
electricity (-4.2%), agriculture (-2.4%) and construction (-1.0%).
Mining activity records an upward variation of 7.3% in the last period.
This shows that still remain the most risky activities, as reflected in the
report.
Regarding the number of claims by type of worker reading indicates that
there was a decrease of 6.2% sector workers productive units and 4.6%
workers in private homes.
As for the sex of the injured verified that the accident rate decreased by
6.9% in women and 5.5% in men. While in relation to age, the accident rate
is maintained at 1.4% in 16- to 19 and a low of 28.4% to 28% in the age
group 20 to 29 is recorded.
Finally, the study shows that in analyzing the five provinces with the
highest number of reported cases all recorded a marked decline. In the case
of: Buenos Aires (-9.2%), CABA (-7.5%), Mendoza (-5.1%) Córdoba (-1.4%) and
Santa Fe (-2.1%) .
