Thursday June 6, 2019
The Ministry of Defense reports that the head of the Argentine Army
participated in a conference on the Falklands War held at the Faculty of
Social Sciences at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA),
within the framework of the activities for the 37th anniversary of the war.
"The Malvinas conflict: some strategic and tactical considerations," was
the focus of the dissertation of the day opened by Lieutenant General
Claudio Pasqualini, who was presented by the director of the Institute of
Political Science and International Relations, Faculty of Social Sciences ,
Policy and Communication, Marcelo Camusso.
Army chief welcomed the invitation and stressed the great importance of the
Falklands War, not only from a historical point of view but also in terms
of strategic analysis and the tactics employed by both parties during the
conflict.
"It is important to open up and share these experiences. All come from the
same society, the military are not a separate and distinct breed, we all
share the same country and the same values. I think Malvinas is one of the
most important events in the history of our country, a fact that has marked
us with fire and left an indelible mark in what is the history of
Argentina. There's a before and after the war, "he said.
Pasqualini was accompanied by Colonel (retired) Veteran of Malvinas (VGM)
Gabriel Bao, who serves as a professor at the Superior War School of the
Argentine Army, and Colonel VGM Esteban Vilgré Lamadrid, former director of
the Health Center Armed Forces "Malvinas Veterans" and current member of
the Ministry of Defense in the Malvinas Veterans Commission at the Ministry
of Interior.
Exhibitors gave presentations on experiences in the different levels of
military conduct of the war to a diverse audience composed of young
students majoring in International Relations, Political Science and
Journalism, as well as the general public.
Speakers reflected on decision-making during the conflict and its impact on
lower levels of tactical execution, creating an enabling environment to
arouse the interest of the audience.
Meanwhile, Camusso said the initiatives offered by the Argentine Army help
students understand the problem (the Falklands War) of Argentina politics.
