Tuesday June 18, 2019
After participating in a workshop in the center of Infinite innovation
Discover, Tobias Afonso (12) and Federico Corzo (13) developed a free
application to share audiocuentos made with other children with patients in
the area of pediatrics at the Municipal Hospital De Agudos Dr. Leonidas
Lucero (HMABB).
The project, which was launched at the headquarters of Infinity
Undiscovered based in Bahia Blanca (Fitz Roy 682), proposes a series of
audio stories created by children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 who attend
the center for those guys who go through internments you cut in the area of
ambulatory pediatrics at Municipal Hospital. In addition to the official
presentation of the application for mobile phones, MP3 players donated with
loaded and ready to listen to stories.
"Everything came through contact with Infinity Undiscovered pediatrics. The
idea was to collaborate with us and in that context we contact plantearles
excess of boys boarding with screens and video games as one of the problems
we observed, "said Silvia Zarate, Head of Department of Pediatric
Specialties HMABB.
The challenge then was to think of a means to entertain kids who go through
an uncomfortable or painful situation without them away from the
environment and the link with the adults in charge of their care.
With this idea as a trigger, facilitators working in the sound lab center
began to develop a project based on "stories that heal." Marisa Nuñez,
professional and member of the "Trafficker words" narrator, added his
experience to teach about the importance of listening, breathing, breaks
and emotional, all virtues associated with the art of storytelling.
Over the months, the experience was taking his own life. On the one hand,
the workshop allowed children 6 to 18 years work as a team and learn alike
a new form of expression, and the value of reading and the development of
imagination unsupported images or animations. On the route, and while
recording were wrong and returned to record, they could experiment with
voice modulation, oratory, sound editing and musical selection that
provides the emotional context to the stories.
"When we had the stories we think how to be heard kids in the hospital. And
there, as in IxD always are recycling things, ask the community to come out
to the center those mp3 and mp4 obsolete to fill them with the magic of
audiocuentos and return them to the community, "explains Sebastian Luce,
educational coordinator of the center They carry forward EDUCATE, society,
Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology Office, together
with the Municipality of Bahia Blanca.
They infected by the shock wave of creativity and generosity that awakened
the project, Tobias Afonso and Federico Corzo decided to go one step
further and multiply the scope of the recordings through creating an
application for mobile phones (available for free in Play Store as
audiocuentos IxD).
"We wanted to make good use of technology and make an application for
stories," explains Federico, in charge of the graphical interface of the
application. Tobias, proud to help "many children in more than 20 halls of
the Municipal Hospital" dealt with programming: "You enter the startup
list, tap and is the entire list of audio stories and you can listen to the
one you want" , guidance is offered.
To date the application has downloads around the world, stories are
available on the Spotify platform and the workshop began to replicate in
other IxD headquarters, located in Posadas, Mendoza and Jujuy. In turn,
both the application and allow Spotify to add stories, so the project is
open to continue growing.
"What is really wonderful is that this is something done by guys for guys.
They have thought of other kids who are not going quite right for their
health situation which forces them to be interned, find a way to ease or
make more enjoyable stay in the hospital. I think that's wonderful, "says
the doctor.
