MORE THAN 1,800 YOUNG PEOPLE PARTICIPATED IN THE DAY I CHOOSE VOTE

Representative to Argentina led the closing ceremony of the day
#YoElijoVotar, an initiative that seeks to strengthen and promote
participation citizen of youth.
The day #YoElijoVotar, an initiative that has been running since 2015, was
moderated by Julian Weich, and various activities to promote civic
awareness among young people between 15 and 17 years, such as were made: A
quiz game and answers about election issues, and a mock voting dummy for
young people are informed about how the process on election ballots.
During the meeting Adrian Perez said: "This first contact of youth with the
political and democratic life is very important and involved and are
informed, trained and motivated to participate in the elections, is the
best way to make them aware voters and who preserved and replicated in the
future. "
"YoElijoVotar is based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which
guarantees children the right to express their views and that these are
taken into account. Since UNICEF we urge teens who vote for the first time
exercise the right to vote and protagonists are the present and future of
the country, "said Luisa Brumana, Representative of UNICEF Argentina.

The #YoElijoVotar initiative celebrates the sanction of the youth vote as
an extension of the law and a consolidation of participation in public life
of adolescents. This campaign is supported by the Convention on the Rights
of the Child (constitutional rank in Argentina by Law 26.061), which
guarantees all boys and girls the right to express their views on any
matter affecting their social, economic, religious, cultural life and
politics, and their views should be taken into account when making
decisions.
The conference was organized by the National Electoral Directorate (DINE)
of the Ministry of Interior, Public Works and Housing and UNICEF, to
promote the participation of young people aged 15, 16 and 17 years who are
eligible to vote in the next general elections October 27th.
