At the start of the current administration began to negotiate with the
neighboring country the reclamation of 10,700 m² located in Zona Sur, which
was awarded in 1997 precarious and free to be used as storage and
distribution center for imported goods Paraguayan. In addition, the parties
agreed to relocate the free zone in new surface near the Basin F and
process the associated ratings so that, unlike what happened in previous
years, this becomes operational and fulfill its purpose: to facilitate
foreign trade of the region.
In these four years, one of the main areas of work of the General Ports
Administration consisted of recovering markets that were lost and generate
new business and re-bond with the region and the world collaborative,
productive and commercially. That is why Gonzalo Mórtola and his team have
visited and met many times with officials, businessmen, exporters and major
shipping companies in Paraguay and Bolivia to work together and give these
countries a natural and economic access to the ocean Waterway. So far,
thanks to the measures implemented, this type of cargo has increased by
521% between 2016 and 2018 being increasingly returning shipping choose
Argentine ports over the Uruguayans to operate.
With this agreement, Puerto Buenos Aires continues to promote the arrival
of cargo Paraguayan transhipment and the new property is located near the
pier exclusive attention to barges for easier loading and unloading it and
significantly reducing operating and transportation costs. is also well
advanced the implementation of a single customs broker internally you
connect all port terminals quickly and safely and is being developed in
conjunction with the Argentina Customs.
"What happened to this land is a clear representation of what happened with
the administration of our country in recent governments. The little care
and abandonment of state lands that could have been used for the benefit of
all Argentines were unfortunately commonplace. From the outset we assume
our role of port authority we have worked tirelessly to recover these
wasted spaces and abandoned: places berthing at the docks, warehouses,
rubbish dumps, scattered scrap metal, etc., because we understand that can
and should be used as a greater purpose, which is to promote the foreign
trade of our country, strengthen the friendship and trade with the region
and strengthen our regional economies and industries. Because, finally,
everything we do in the port translates into more jobs for Argentines. "-
Gonzalo Mórtola, Financial Controller
