Wednesday July 8, 2020 National Agency for the Promotion of Research, Technological Development and Innovation and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Nation agreed to advance a cooperation agreement involving those portfolios. It is a tool that seeks to channel resources for international cooperation and national funds to strengthen the interaction between the system of science and technology and environmental agenda and to promote research and capacity building in this field. To this end, a meeting took place between the head of the Unit of Cabinet of Advisors of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Carolina Vera; the chairman of the agency said Fernando Peirano; Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Juan Cabandié; and Leo Heileman, regional director of United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the agency also involved in the initiative. At the meeting, it sought to advance the signing of future agreements that allow allocate resources UNEP international cooperation through the Agency, as executing agency for international projects. It announced the first agreement aims at implementing a project planning resilient cities to climate change, as a first effort to realize this state policy nationwide. The project will cover experiences in four Argentine geographic regions: North, Cuyo, Patagonia and the Pampas. Through concrete initiatives over four years, actions will be implemented to think cities with fewer carbon emissions, transport systems, waste management, tourism and green spaces that promote sustainable development in the region. The actions will strengthen the scientific and academic complex national environmental and utilize their capabilities in building sustainable development. In addition, they will be held contests of ideas for universities and teams from different regions. Resources for this project will be provided by the Fund for Global Environment Facility (GEF, for its acronym in English), an international organization with 183 member countries supporting developing countries to achieve environmental goals agreed.

Se avanza en acuerdo para fortalecer la agenda ambiental con el sistema de ciencia y tecnología nacional Se avanza en acuerdo para fortalecer la agenda ambiental con el sistema de ciencia y tecnología nacional Se dio a conocer durante una reunión en la que participaron la titular de la Unidad de Gabinete de Asesores del Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación, Carolina Vera; el presidente de la Agencia Nacional de Promoción de la Investigación, el Desarrollo Tecnológico y la Innovación, Fernando Peirano; y el ministro de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible, Juan Cabandié. miércoles 08 de julio de 2020 La Agencia Nacional de Promoción de la Investigación, el Desarrollo Tecnológico y la Innovación y el Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible de la Nación acordaron avanzar en un convenio de cooperación que involucra a dichas carteras. Se trata de una herramienta que busca canalizar recursos de cooperación internacional y fondos nacionales para fortalecer la interacción entre el sistema de ciencia y tecnología y la agenda ambiental y fomentar la investigación y la construcción de capacidades en este campo. Para ello, se llevó a cabo una reunión entre la titular de la Unidad de Gabinete de Asesores del Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación, Carolina Vera; el presidente de la agencia mencionada, Fernando Peirano; el ministro de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible, Juan Cabandié; y Leo Heileman, director regional de Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA), organismo también involucrado en la iniciativa. En el encuentro, se buscó avanzar en la firma de futuros convenios que permitan destinar recursos de cooperación internacional del PNUMA a través de la Agencia, como entidad ejecutora de proyectos internacionales. El primer convenio anunciado apunta a la implementación de un proyecto de planificación de ciudades resilientes al cambio climático, como un primer esfuerzo para concretar esta política de Estado a nivel nacional. El proyecto cubrirá experiencias en cuatro regiones geográficas argentinas: el norte, Cuyo, la Patagonia y la Pampa Húmeda. A través de iniciativas concretas a lo largo de cuatro años, se implementarán acciones para pensar ciudades con menos emisiones de carbono, sistemas de transporte, gestión de residuos, turismo y espacios verdes que impulsen el desarrollo sostenible de la región. Las acciones permitirán fortalecer el complejo científico y académico nacional en materia ambiental y aprovechar sus capacidades en la construcción del desarrollo sostenible. Además, se realizarán concursos de ideas para universidades y equipos de las diferentes regiones. Los recursos para este proyecto, serán provistos por el Fondo para el Medio Ambiente Mundial (GEF, por su sigla en inglés), una organización internacional con 183 países miembro que apoya a países en desarrollo para alcanzar metas ambientales consensuadas.
