El encuentro contó con la presencia del ministro de Cultura de la Nación, Tristán Bauer, la secretaria de Desarrollo Cultural, María Lucrecia Cardoso, y el secretario de Políticas Universitarias, Jaime Perczyk, juntos a otras autoridades de universidades de todo el país, para debatir acerca de la situación actual de las casas de estudios y de sus necesidades de cara al 2021. Asimismo, el plenario aprobó una declaración en reconocimiento a las y los trabajadores de la salud del país, en el que se expresa "nuestro reconocimiento, acompañamiento y solidaridad, no solo en ese aplauso que diariamente merecen sino también a través de comportamientos sociales adecuados. " El secretario de Políticas Universitarias, Jaime Perczyk, comenzó su participación con una referencia a la cantidad de acciones que realizan las instituciones de educación superior para colaborar ante la situación generada por el COVID-19. "Creemos que el sistema universitario estuvo a la altura de las circunstancias de esta crisis y eso nos obliga a repensar cómo seguir en el futuro. Las universidades investigaron sobre vacunas, telas protectoras, software de salud, oficiaron de hospitales y, lo fundamental, es que garantizaron la educación a un millón y medio de jóvenes", comentó. Luego, agregó que "hay que proyectar una nueva universidad del futuro, recuperando lo que hicimos en el presente pero mejorando lo que tuvimos que hacer de un día para el otro a raíz de la pandemia". Además, adelantó que "lo que viene es muy complicado y tenemos que discutir mucho qué puede aportar la universidad argentina para la reconstrucción del país". En la misma línea, la presidenta del CIN, María Delfina Veiravé remarcó que "estamos transitando una situación compleja y crítica de la pandemia en el país, de manera que esto también nos compromete a fortalecer y reforzar nuestra responsabilidad para seguir aportando en colaboración con aquellos que tienen la responsabilidad primera de hacerle frente". Cabe mencionar que, durante la tarde, los representantes del CIN aprobaron el monto del presupuesto universitario a solicitar para el 2021, que asciende a 242 mil millones de pesos aproximadamente. Cabe aclarar que el proyecto incluye por primera vez un renglón especial para fortalecer las actividades de extensión. Además, se reconoce el desempeño de las universidades públicas en la situación de pandemia y expresa el compromiso de mantener las clases y la producción científico tecnológica.
