ARGENTINA REAFFIRMED ITS COMMITMENT TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE GREEN ECONOMY

Secretary of Industry of Argentina, Fernando Grasso, inaugurated
the "Argentina strengthened in its transition to a green economy" program
at the headquarters of the Ministry of Production and Labor today. The
initiative, included in the Partnership for Action Towards a Green Economy
(PAGE, by its acronym in English), it is promoted by the International
Labor Organization and the United Nations strategy.
"Argentina has expressed a strong commitment against climate change and we
have developed an important work in all areas of government that goal.
Regarding industry, circular economy is a development opportunity for the
entire national production network because it not only encourages quality
employment, but allows us to integrate better into the world becoming more
profitable our production, "said Grasso.
PAGE represents a mechanism to coordinate the action of the United Nations
on the green economy and to contribute to knowledge transfer to countries
in order to achieve and monitor targets emerging sustainable development,
including sustained economic growth, inclusive and sustainable, full and
productive employment and decent work through financing tools and technical
assistance.
Since the launch of this program, they will be discussed during the
remaining 2019 to promote and strengthen recycling industries challenges.
In this regard, the National Congress currently has under its legislative
treatment projects Waste Management Universal Generation under the
principle of Extended Producer Responsibility and the draft Law on
Management of Packaging postconsumer and Industry Promotion Recycling .
The event was also attended by Secretary of Government of Environment and
Sustainable Development, Sergio Bergman, and representatives of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Nation and the various international
organizations UN Environment Program, United Nations Development Program
(UNDP), the United Nations Industrial Development organization (UNIDO) and
the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
