ARGENTINA WILL HOST THE GLOBAL SUMMIT ON DISABILITY WHICH INCLUDE MORE THAN 20 COUNTRIES
For three days it will be discussed with experts on the implementation of
public policies and will work on strengthening the commitment of Latin
America and the world to ensure the full inclusion of people with
disabilities.

The Global Summit on Disability will be held from 6 to 8 June at the
premises of Technopolis, located in the municipality of Vicente López,
province of Buenos Aires. This meeting, of which more than 20 countries
around the world, will bring together representatives of governments,
organizations of persons with disabilities, civil society, international
organizations, cooperation agencies, multilateral and state.
The Global Summit on Disability was born from the joint effort of the
Department for International Development (DFID), the International
Disability Alliance (IDA) and the Government of Kenya, aware that the issue
of disability has not been adequately addressed to worldwide, and with the
vision of "Ensuring that people with disabilities are included
systematically and consistently in inclusive development and humanitarian
assistance" and was held in London in July 2018, and this time Argentina
was chosen as the venue for the second edition.

America and the world to ensure the full inclusion of people with
disabilities, ensuring their rights and freedoms in the various areas of
society.
Ana Lucia Arellano, president of IDA, said that "the International
Disability Alliance (IDA) through the Latin American Network of
Non-Governmental Organizations of Persons with Disabilities and their
Families (RIADIS) is co-organizing together with the Government of
Argentina, the Global Summit on disability, Argentina 2019, an initiative
that will ensure that people with disabilities in Latin America are
included in international development and humanitarian assistance
progressively and systematically. "
He added: "Since the beginning of pregnancy and adoption of the UN
Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), Latin America
played a leading role and leadership defined its contents as a tool for
promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms of
persons with disabilities, and thus also as a tool for development. Today
IDA, RIADIS and the Government of Argentina are committed to revive and
strengthen the work for the full inclusion of people with disabilities in
this important event in Latin America along with organizations of persons
with disabilities in Argentina, the region and the world . We hope that
during this monitoring commitments of States renewed part and concrete
results that improve the performance of our rights and living conditions
available ".
Meanwhile Elena Dalbo, representing the Region of the Americas in the
Council of Inclusion International stressed that: "We hope that in this
global summit commitments are among States and organizations that make the
participation of people with disabilities reality in instances government
referred to them. Organizations of persons with disabilities and families
in Argentina we are glad to welcome our brothers and sisters in Latin
America and the world in our country, stop this event, which we hope will
be a milestone in the process of implementation of the Convention and
Agenda 2030 our region. "
