FORUM ON TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION IN URUGUAY ORGANIZED BY UNESCO

Tuesday June 4, 2019
the International Forum on Education and Technical and Vocational Training
in Latin America with educators, technicians and professionals from
different countries in the region was held in Uruguay. It had as main
objectives to stimulate discussion on current challenges of Technical
Education, and strengthen training capacities on the continent.
Specialists and exhibitors who participated addressed issues such as the
relevance of the offer of Professional Technical Education (ETP) in Latin
America; the technological and pedagogical training and updating of
teachers and institutions; mode challenges in this century; while they
shared experiences in their countries.
The National Institute of Technological Education (INET) participated
through the national director of ETP, Fabian Prieto, who worked in
workshops with technical responsible politicians from other countries. As a
result of this exchange, they drafted a document with recommendations for
diagnostic work in the coming years: the need for public-private
coordination to improve the quality of training of students and teachers;
professionalizing practices (as critical to ensuring the technological
updating axis and its link with the world of work); the need to work within
a framework of professional qualifications of regional scope that allows
labor mobility and recognition of knowledge; among other.
The event was organized by the International Institute for Educational
Planning (IIEP) of UNESCO with Uruguayan public organizations.
