The Nuclear Regulatory Authority conducted a course in First Responder
School Specialties Fire Federal Police Argentina (PFA), located in Villa
Lugano, Buenos Aires, with the aim of training the personnel involved in
the response Division to radiological emergencies.
The course was held from 1 to 3 October 2019 and was issued jointly by the
RNA and Brigade Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (QBNR) Fire
the Argentina Federal Police. He participated staff of the Division and
representatives of Interpol, the Medical Complex Churruca Visca, Foreign
Affairs, the Federal Special Rescue Squad and Special Forces of the PFA.
The content of the training was based on the presentation of Intervention
System Radiological Emergency (SIER) of the RNA and concepts of operations,
risks and effects of ionizing radiation on health, risk assessment and
setting limits risk zones (cordoning), and safe working guidelines for
staff involved in emergency and to protect the public.
The course included practical exercises desktop and field demonstrations
radiation measurement equipment and debates.
This type of preparatory activities are part of the training that gives RNA
response organizations across the country, which can act as first
responders in an emergency.
