En horas del mediodía del miércoles, el subdirector de la Universidad Estatal Rusa de la Flota de la Marina "Almirante Makarov", Contralmirante Didenco Igor, junto con el Cónsul Honorario Ruso Yuri Andrushchar solicitaron asistencia al Comando del Área Naval Austral de la Armada Argentina, que destacó al aviso ARA "Teniente Olivieri", que se encontraba como buque de estación, para brindarle asistencia. El "Teniente Olivieri" avistó al velero navegando a motor al Sur de Bahía Aguirre –al Este del Canal Beagle–; se efectuaron las comunicaciones y maniobras correspondientes para transferir al velero los insumos necesarios para que pudiera continuar su navegación al puerto de Ushuaia sin inconvenientes. El velero "Elizaveta" es un velero de 20 mtrs. de eslora y 2 mtrs. de manga que navega bajo la bandera de Rusia. Zarpó desde el Puerto de San Petersburgo hacia la Antártida, hace más de 45 días, en conmemoración de los 200 años del descubrimiento del Continente Blanco. Dentro de sus actividades, el velero ruso adiestra cadetes de la Universidad Estatal Rusa de la Flota de la Marina "Almirante Makarov", que van rotando a lo largo del itinerario. Luego de su rescate, el Comandante del Área Naval Austral, Contralmirante Eduardo Antonio Traina, recibió en visita oficial a la tripulación del velero ruso en la Base Naval Ushuaia.
