En ese sentido, se retomaron los trabajos en el tramo que va desde el A° Sandoval a la Intersección con la Ruta Nacional Nº 14, y actualmente se está trabajando en el distribuidor de San Salvador Norte; en el puente y en la rectificación del cauce del Arroyo Grande; y en el acceso a la localidad de Jubileo. Las obras en la RN 18 se iniciaron en el año 2011, y el proyecto fue diseñado en cuatro tramos para cubrir todo el trayecto entre Paraná y Concordia. A fines de 2015 se tomó la decisión de dar de baja los tramos II y III, y sólo continuaron a bajo ritmo los tramos Paraná (Int. RN 12 - KM 67) y Concordia (Arroyo Sandoval - RN 14). En los próximos meses, Vialidad Nacional irá retomando todos los tramos, a lo largo de 61,88 km, para llevar la actual ruta de un carril a una autovía de dos carriles por sentido de 7,30 m de ancho con un cantero central, adecuación del sistema de desagües, y provisión mejores elementos de seguridad. La obra también comprende la ejecución de puentes sobre el A° Sandoval, paralelo al puente actual; un doble puente sobre el Arroyo Grande, en la variante de San Salvador; y el Distribuidor de San Salvador Norte, sobre las vías del Ferrocarril. Asimismo, incluye mejoramiento lumínico, barandas de protección de hormigón y puentes peatonales con nuevos refugios de colectivos, entre otras tareas. La Ruta Nacional Nº 18 presenta una circulación promedio de 3. 438 vehículos por día, de los cuales un 40% lo conforma el tránsito pesado, ya que es un corredor central para el transporte hacia distintos países del Mercosur, principalmente Brasil. La nueva autovía, junto a las obras complementarias, mejorará la circulación, la seguridad vial y el mejoramiento de la infraestructura regional ya que también conectará las localidades de San Salvador, Jubileo y General Campos, que generan un intenso movimiento económico durante todo el año. Todos los trabajos se están realizando bajo el Protocolo de Seguridad e Higiene, impulsado desde el Ministerio con el objetivo de cuidar a los trabajadores y trabajadoras de la obra pública.
