Allí fue recibido por el Comandante del Área Naval Atlántica, Comodoro de Marina Gabriel Eduardo Attis, quien estuvo acompañado por el Secretario General de la Armada a cargo, Contralmirante Diego Eduardo Suárez del Solar; la Vicecónsul Honoraria de España en Mar del Plata, Contadora Claudia Álvarez Arguelles; y el Agregado de Defensa Militar Naval y Aéreo de España en Buenos Aires, Coronel Francisco Eusebio Lozano Lucas. En el marco de la estadía en Mar del Plata, hoy al mediodía frente al cenotafio que recuerda a los tripulantes del submarino ARA "San Juan", se realizó una ceremonia donde la Armada Española, representada por la tripulación del buque escuela "Juan Sebastián de Elcano", rindió homenaje a los marinos de guerra que se encuentran en patrulla permanente. Con los acordes de la unidad de música del buque escuela "Juan Sebastián de Elcano", que interpretaron "La muerte no es el final", dos guardiamarinas del buque escuela trasladaron la ofrenda floral frente hasta el cenotafio, donde fue depositada por las autoridades.
