FOOD SAFETY: EVERYBODY'S BUSINESS

Friday June 7, 2019 marks the first time the "World Day of Food Safety"
(DMIA) proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly (UN) on December
20, 2018, through Resolution A / RES / 73/250.

The Secretariat of Agribusiness Government as key to promoting the
harmonious development of value chains and strengthening food security
actor, joins this global awareness campaign on food safety.
Through this initiative, we seek to draw attention and inspire actions that
help prevent, detect and manage risks foodborne, contributing to food
security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, access to
markets, tourism and sustainable development.

AccionesAl respect from the Ministry of Food and Bioeconomy, are carried
out actions that promote improved quality safety, and training and
technical assistance that promotes the production and sale of safe and
reliable food.
Among the programs that are running, it should be noted the joint work
between the federal government, the provinces and the private sector to
update food legislation, both national (National Food Commission), regional
(Mercosur) and international (Codex Alimentarius), in finding reasonable
and modern regulatory frameworks accompanying innovation and technological
development. In turn, the training of the various stakeholders in the food
chain on good agricultural practices (GAP) and manufacturing (BPM) done for
several years.
2018 was approved, the National Agricultural Sustainable (GAPs) in fruit
and vegetable products Good Practice Program, aiming to strengthen food
safety, as well as the preservation and rational management of soil
resources, water and energy. As part of this program, we worked with the
National Food Commission to establish mandatory Good Agricultural Practices
(GAP) in fruit and vegetable production, which was formalized through the
joint resolution 5/2018 of the secretariats of Regulation and Health and
Food and Bio-economy management. The main objective of the resolution
is "safe food and protecting the health of the population".

what our Argentine Food Code requires further sum.

to promote the development of healthier foods by industry, and

for Waste Reduction Food and losses, dissemination and awareness is
encouraged to improve production efficiency, protect the environment,
reduce household waste, encourage and promote sustainable food donations,
to strengthen food security.
Moreover, from the National Health Service and Food Quality (Senasa),
decentralized body of the Secretariat, implement national policies on
animal and plant health and food quality and safety of food.
To maintain safety in food chains, establishments and plants oversee and
certify the processes and products through a production control geared
towards obtaining quality agrifood and safe.
Recently, the Agency launched the "health food", which aims to promote the
consumption of foods with nutritional benefits and raise awareness of the
controls carried out by the Senasa to ensure its safety campaign.
On the other hand, safety is the basis for advancing strategies to improve
the nutritional value, quality and differentiation of food. So this day, it
is understood as a comprehensive look at what they stand for food and the
food industry for each country. Argentina is the 13th largest exporter of
food and plays an essential role as a global supplier.
So from agroindustry accompanies the World Day for Safety as a key
component of quality and competitiveness of Argentine food.
AntecedentesLa Codex Alimentarius Commission at its 39th session held in
2016, agreed unanimously to initiate a proposal on the proclamation of a
World Day Food Safety permanent basis within the framework of the United
Nations.
The FAO Conference at its 40th session, held in July 2017 passed a
resolution that supported the proclamation of a World Day Food Safety and
the World Health Organization expressed its support in December 2017.
In December 2018, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 7 as
the World Day Food Safety, supported by many countries, including Argentina.
